2025 Recap: Cozy Wins, Lessons Learned, and What Actually Worked
I like a recap that’s honest, not shiny.
If we haven’t chatted in a bit, here’s the real version of 2025 at Upper Room Prints: a year of cozy wins, a few hard lessons, and a lot of quiet proof that the slow way can still be a good way.
I kept making small-batch, character-led work. I kept showing up to markets when I could. I kept choosing “doable” over “impressive.” And honestly, I’m proud of that.
The year in one sentence
2025 was the year I stopped trying to outwork my limits and started building a business that actually fits my life.
What felt really good in 2025
Markets were still the heart of my business. There’s something about seeing someone walk up, spot a character they love, and do that little “oh my gosh, that’s so me” laugh that just doesn’t translate online the same way.
One of my favorite moments this year was watching someone pick up a sticker sheet, read it, and then immediately call their friend over like, “No, you have to see this.” It’s small, but it’s the exact kind of joy I’m trying to make.
Stickers and notebooks continued to be my reliable besties. They’re practical, they’re giftable, they’re easy to fall in love with, and they’re a great way to bring a little cozy to the chaos without needing a big decision. And the character-driven work kept doing what it does best, too. It gave me a way to talk about real life without oversharing, and it helped customers feel seen without having to explain themselves. That part still feels like magic.
The stuff people actually told me they loved
One of the biggest reminders this year was how much people value practical products that still feel personal.
The Pet Emergency Stickers are a good example. They’re not just cute. They’re useful. And when people tell me they’ve helped in real situations, it hits me in the chest in the best and weirdest way. Like, oh. This little thing I made at my desk matters.
I also heard, over and over, that folks appreciate autism-friendly, sensory-considerate design and messaging. Not in a “make it a big deal” way. More in a “thank you for making this feel safe to shop” way. That’s always the goal.
And yes, Mr. Grumps continued to be Mr. Grumps. If you’re new here: he’s the orange cat who says what we’re all thinking, and somehow he’s both a menace and a comfort character.
Behind the scenes: what actually helped
A lot of what worked this year was boring in the best way.
Keeping my booth setup consistent meant I wasn’t reinventing the wheel every single event. Testing ideas before going all-in saved me time, money, and stress. And making small-batch decisions kept things flexible.
Basically: fewer dramatic swings, more steady steps.

What I learned (the useful kind)
The biggest lesson was simple: rest is not optional if I want to keep creating.
I’m not interested in building a business that only works if I’m constantly pushing past what my body can handle. I want something I can keep doing. Something that stays cozy, even when life is not.
I also learned (again) that I do best when I focus on one thing at a time. When I try to do a little of everything, everything feels harder. When I give myself one lane at a time, I get more done and I feel more like myself.
And I’m still practicing “good enough and done.” Not because I don’t care, but because finishing things is how they get to the people who will love them.
What I’m taking with me into 2026
- More structure where it helps (like keeping my release calendar clear and predictable).
- More softness where it’s needed (more rest built in, and less guilt about it).
- More intentional releases, fewer random stress spirals (which means fewer last-minute product ideas and more planned cozy drops).
If you supported Upper Room Prints in 2025, whether you bought something, shared a post, or just quietly rooted for me from the sidelines, thank you. It matters more than you know.
Here’s to keeping things cozy, sustainable, and human in 2026.
See you next Monday at 10am.
